My responsibilities consisted of:

  • Actively participating in the steering committee; contributing to the evaluation of new initiatives, assessment on feasibility of new projects, and setting of the strategy and direction for future investments

  • Overseeing the design phase of all projects, revising and approving of all addendums and specifications

  • Preparing of detailed and comprehensive request for proposals, receiving and reviewing  tenders,  selecting of contractors,  and contract negotiating

  • Setting up of a customized execution methodology for vital projects and applying rigorous standards and quality checks

  • Overseeing cost and time of overall project phases

  • Identifying risk areas and implementing mitigation plans

  • Establishing relevant KPIs and milestones and coupling them with payment schedules

  • Completing handling and management of contractual matters:

    • Reviewing and negotiating claims and disputes

    • Managing arbitration and litigation procedures and processes

    • Providing legal advice and recommendations on settlements

  • Responsibilities often extended beyond the closure of the construction phase to include operational phase.  Responsibilities include:

    • Representing the owner in a board of directors with full authority and empowerment to make critical decisions

2000 - 2003

Project Director / Contract Manager, Inter Health Canada

I fully administered and supervised the operations of one of the largest hospital management projects in the region totalling $ 1 billion in management services.  Responsibilities included

  • Complete hospital setup from all aspects such as

    • Recruitment of technical and management staff

    • Selection and procurement of equipment

  • Tender evaluations, negotiation and contract awarding

  • Establishing strategies and setting operational standards, policies, and governance procedures

  • Full ownership of contract, claims and disputes processing and arbitration


  • Successfully extended the setup and operating model to other hospitals in the region

1997 - 2000

Senior Contracts Engineer, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC)

Handled all contractual aspects of ADNOC transactions related to construction, procurement, and services. Responsibilities included: 

  • Standardizing the process of receiving and processing tenders across the Central Procurement Division of ADNOC

  • Developing various templates and procedures to unify the process of dealing with contracts

Managed the relationship among project owners, prime contractor, sub-contractors, and suppliers in executing a $35 Million North Ghors Conversion Project for the Jordanian Government.  Project was financed by the Japan Overseas Development Bank.

Provided consultation services to ISL clients on several construction contracts covering environmental, housing, and oil services projects.


Promoted to Deputy General Manager in 1988 and to General Manager in 1989.

1982 - 1984

Worked as a site engineer on a major highway project in Kuwait City, Kuwait.
